Family Fridays: Djembe Beat
The Central Park Conservancy hosts Family Fridays, a weekly series of fun family events. This week, feel the rhythm of the Djembe Beat, a joint production of the conservancy and the Museum for African Art to mark Black History Month. Percussionist Kofi Osei Williams will teach families about the djembe drum and explore rhythms from various West African countries, including Ghana, the Ivory Coast and Togo.

Winter Jam NYC
OK, New York City isn’t the first destination that comes to mind when thinking about winter sports. But Winter Jam NYC aims to change that: participants can bring their snowboards and sign up for the Switch Academy Rail Jam at the Bandshell. Skiers can make their way to the “Lake Placid Snow Field” and take on Central Park’s “slopes.” (The Olympic Regional Development Authority will help out by making enough snow to go around.)

Comix Free Super Bowl XLIV Party
Are you ready for some football? Well, apparently the folks at Comix are. The good people there want to ensure your Super Bowl–viewing experience is as luxe as possible, what with an eight-foot projector, not to mention four 52-inch TV screens. Here’s the kicker (punt intended): you must RSVP to reserve your spot. Email rsvp@comixny.com
with your full name and the number of guests in your party. For more Super Bowl–viewing options, please see our handy map of sports bars around the five boroughs.
