According to Michael Akira West, the Creative Director of snowboarding brand 686, every part of the 686 x Scion xB Numeric isn’t only a separate product but a stand alone inspiration to the overall concept as well. Created in part with help from Scion Racing and Spin Imaging, everyone’s first impression of the 686 x Scion xB Numeric was a vehicle under wrap, quite literally. Covered bumper to bumpers in the same waterproof yet breathable technical fabric as with all 686 apparels, a standard Scion xB went through a complete overhaul down to its tires, a set of New Balance branded ones. Quipped with all a snowboarder would want or need, from storage compartments to heated floor mats, the 686 x Scion xB Numeric is a wunderkind of ingenuity for either slopes or roads. This one-of-the-kind concept debuted at last week’s SEMA 2011 in Las Vegas and hopefully will make its way to snowboard meets around the country.
